I’m often asked why I am asked by many brides to do their wedding photography. You see, I am always first humbled that I even am considered to be invited to this momentous occasion. Considering that so much effort was taken into preparing for the wedding ceremony and reception, I feel honored. Think about the time it took you to create invitation cards, choose the words, make the wedding favors, choose and ordering your flowers, taste so many cake flavors and choose the shape and baker, brides maids dresses and color, select the food, and select your wedding dress. I see it as my obligation to capture not only these wedding artifacts, but to also make sure that in 20 years, the bride and the groom are able to look at the photos and find it possible to place themselves back into the image and into that very special moment which, I hope, would remind them of all the emotions and feelings that they experienced. A bride gently and lightly kissing her beau on the neck during their first dance – there’s nothing like it – it brings tears to MY eyes!
To the bride: when you select me as your wedding photographer, you are really hiring an experience and you are hiring the creative input you will receive from me. I do not necessarily sell pictures or products – those things speak for themselves. You see me for a wedding photography consultation because you already like my work. What make us seal the deal is for me to persuade and compel you that I emotionally, artistically, and personally connect with you. I want you to trust that my ability to uniquely see emotion through the lens and properly capture it inside the camera without little to no editing in the studio. The raw essence of many special moments cannot and should not be “edited” in Photoshop – it makes the image fake. What you want is a creative photographer who know the arts, know his camera REALLY well, know which lens to use, understands the presence and absence of light and what that does to the images, and understands editing essentials. Most of important, you want a photographer that understands the bride and grooms “story” and personality, and also understands himself and his craft.
Call me to hold a conversation about why you like my photographs and how I can bring a unique craft and experience to your special day. I guarantee you that when we’ve finally finished the assignment, we will remain as friends!
