Bear with me while I toot my horn a bit. Yes, even humble people have to brag a bit when it comes to promoting their business!
Its hard to believe that Rosie and Travis are the 9th wedding I’ve covered within a group of connected friends, families, and colleagues! Trans4mation Photography Annapolis Wedding Photographers started what became a series of 9 weddings about 5 years ago, when I was honored to photograph the wedding of Jessie and Johnny at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Elkridge, Maryland, and then join their celebration at Savage Mills, in Laurel. From there, Jessie referred me to her brother TJ (and Brooke), who referred me to colleagues and friends, cousins, including Tom and Jennifer, Eddie and Julia, Bill and Lindy, and so on. Fast forward 5 years, and now I have covered 9 weddings, including Rosie and Travis’, all thanks to Jessie and Johnny! I’m often referred to friends and family, but usually only 2 or 3 deep and the series stops. This wedding was special because it was 9 deep, not to mention that it was held at the famed Liberty Mountain Resort (ski resort) in Pennsylvania.
About a year ago, I was able to enjoy an afternoon photographing these two love birds during an engagement photo session at the Patapsco State Park (Avalon Entrance). A short drive and a hike into the park led us to the waterfall and a suspension foot bridge which we used as our backdrop. Here’s one of my favorite images from that shoot:
The mountain scape, the rolling hills, the overhead gliders, the log cabin lodge venue, the golf course, the vine gazebo – all of it made for a beautiful backdrop for Rosie and Travis’ wedding on a fine Fall day. Add to that a little bit of sunshine, an outdoor ceremony, amazing details and decorations to spice up their venue and you have a recipe for a great wedding. Of course Rosie looked stunning walking down to meet her groom, who, despite his tough guy disposition, teared up as he gazed into Rosie eyes. You could feel the gravity and solemnity of the occasion. Travis and Rosie were the real deal and it was a delight for my assistant Samantha and I to capture their special day.
And for the reception, Rosie and Travis served up Liberty Mountain Resort signature drinks along with a rockin’ delicious rockfish for dinner, garnished the bar with a flower-carved watermelon, offered a chocolate fruit fountain, and danced the night away. These weren’t a bunch of random people dancing – you can feel the friendships, intimacy, and beauty even in the closeness, fun, and laughter. As formal and beautiful the wedding was, there equally was a down-to-earth quality about it. This is the standard soon-to-be-married couples should copy.
This wedding was a celebration by all accounts. What makes it now and forever even more meaningful and an incredibly special event to Rosie, Travis and their families is that it was the last major event Pop-Pop (Rosie’s grandfather) would attend before passing away several weeks ago. A bitter-sweet moment to all.
And oh, by the way, I got to see my favorite couple, in addition to Rosie and Travis of course 😉 – Jessie and Johnny, who were the originals that got me started on this 9 wedding photography series! Thanks to Rosie, Travis, and the many others who trusted me with their special day. I have truly been honored to serve them all and consider them friends for life!
