Relaxed. Gentle. Calm. We don’t often associate these words with brides on their wedding day. Most often, a bride is understandably anxious, nervous, and is scatter-brain as she attempts to both enjoy her wedding day festivities, including getting ready with her gal-pals, and multi-task final details such as where the flowers bouquets will be dropped off, wedding venue logistics, why there is a missing brides maid, and on-and-on. Not so with Andrea, who is a lovely mother of one, as she was calmer-than-usual as she readied her hair and make-up. This was no surprise as I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Andrea and Stephen a few times before the wedding and knew this was going to be a delightful, grand, and fun affair. No bride-zilla here!
The day started with the threat of thunderstorms (even this did not phase Andrea!). But, we kept our eyes to the skies and paced our day, adding the possibility of “first look” shots which were not in the original plans. This was our way of getting some artistic photos just in case the rains came and prevented us from outdoor photography on the stunning grounds of Turf Valley Country Club. I promised Andrea I would show up well in advance of the wedding, not only to capture the getting ready shots, but also to explore some more creative photography if the weather allowed. Stephen and the men, cool and eager to get the show on the road, surprised me and my assistant by being already dressed almost 2 hours before the wedding! Now that is organized!
The whole day seemed to hinge on the “when” of the impending storm, not so much the “if”. But the decision was made to keep the outdoor seating in place. Here, the ceremony would face the nearby pond (with swans to brag), water fountain, gazebo, and the majestic golf course views. Andrea’s grand entrance was, as you might expect, in a golf cart as she and her dad rounded the lawn for the sacred event. You should see Stephen’s face – I mean, he glowed when he saw his bride, as if he’s never laid eyes on her before!
We kept an eye on the darkening skies as I was doing the bridal part photographs. The rains were determined, and we managed to get the essential photos done and went into the country club to finish off the job. Fortunately, we were more determined than the storm, and we got several additional outdoor photos both in the rain and after the rains subsided. What I loved about Andrea and Stephen’s family and guests is that I never heard anyone complain about the rain – everyone was there to celebrate and enjoy the festivities – rain or shine!
So here is to Andrea and Stephen! Many years of happiness and success to you and yours! Please enjoy these teaser wedding images by Trans4mation Photography – your premier Baltimore Annapolis Wedding Photographer! Additional thanks goes to the following participating vendors:
